Privacy policy
Your book stays yours.
Last updated 13 October 2026
Ariadne is built so that we never see your writing. This policy explains the little we do collect — mostly the waitlist — who handles it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
Ariadne is made and sold by Clover Tax Ltd, a company registered in the Republic of Cyprus (company number HE 462607, registered office Schinias 15, 4007 Mesa Geitonia, Limassol, Cyprus, VAT CY60083648C). Clover Tax Ltd is the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at eriksenalisa [at] gmail [dot] com.
The short version
- Your manuscript lives in a file on your Mac. We never receive it.
- For the waitlist we keep your name, your email address and the choice you made about marketing emails.
- This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising trackers.
- We don’t sell or rent personal data, and we don’t use it to train anything.
The website and the waitlist
What we collect
- Your name and email address, when you join the waitlist.
- Whether you ticked the box to receive news and offers, and when.
- The date you joined and which form you used, and the country your connection came from, which Cloudflare tells us. We don’t store your IP address.
- The result of a bot check (Cloudflare Turnstile) that keeps automated sign-ups out. It looks at technical signals from your browser for that moment only.
Why, and on what legal basis
| Purpose | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Emailing you when Ariadne opens, with early access — the one email the waitlist promises | Your request, by joining (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Occasional news, the build story and founding-member offers — only if you ticked the box | Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time |
| Keeping the form free of spam and abuse | Our legitimate interest in a working, secure site (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Keeping a record of your consent | Our legal obligation to be able to show it (Art. 6(1)(c)) |
How long we keep it
Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. If you joined only for the launch email, we delete your details within 12 months of Ariadne opening, unless you’ve since become a customer or chosen to hear from us.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics, pixels or advertising trackers, so there is no cookie banner. The bot check runs in your browser when you use the form and is used only for security.
The Ariadne app
- Your book stays on your Mac. Plot, chapters, characters, notes and every version are saved in a single
.ariadnefile on your computer. You don’t need an account to write, and we have no copy of your work. - Importing from Google Drive or Dropbox. When you choose to import, Ariadne asks for read-only access to the files you pick, copies them into your book on your Mac, and keeps no access afterwards. Nothing passes through our servers.
- Apps you connect. Optional connections such as ElevenLabs run on your own account with that company. Your key is stored in your Mac’s Keychain, and what you send goes directly from your Mac to that service, under its own terms and privacy policy. Connections are off until you turn them on.
- Updates. When Ariadne checks for a new version, it asks our server for the latest version number. Like any internet request this includes your IP address; we don’t log it.
Ariadne’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Who handles data for us
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare, Inc. | Hosting this site, storing waitlist entries, the bot check | Global network; EU–US transfers covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses |
| UAB Sender.lt (Sender) | Sending waitlist and newsletter emails | Lithuania, EU |
Each works only on our instructions under a data processing agreement. When Ariadne goes on sale we’ll add the payment provider here before taking any payment.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or give it to you in a portable format. You can withdraw consent to marketing emails at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email, or by writing to eriksenalisa [at] gmail [dot] com. We’ll answer within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Cyprus Commissioner for Personal Data Protection, or to the authority where you live.
If you live in the United States
We don’t sell or “share” personal information as those terms are used in US state privacy laws, and we don’t use it for targeted advertising or profiling. You can ask to know, correct or delete what we hold about you using the contact address above, and we won’t treat you differently for asking.
Children
Ariadne is not directed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we’ll update the date above and, for anything significant, tell the people on our list by email.
